This is among my favorite of the instrumental/unfinished tracks from the mostly instrumental/unfinished Billy Wheels project. The idea started with the funny idea that Chris should record an intro for our first album. He obliged, and we kept pressing him for content. He invented a character for the second album, which you can hear for just about twenty seconds right at the "flip over" point of When, but there is plenty more material there. I think we made him put down a half hour of pretty uncomfortable patter, which runs from the fascinating to the wonderfully hilarious.
We got as far as putting together a pair of tracks, one which I have been calling "Musical Mistress," and the other we called "1500 Reasons I love you." This is another piece in the same line. The deal with these has been that I would record the music, and put what names I saw fit, and Chris/Billy would create lyrics independently, and the lyrics would determine the actual title of the song. But here I am, a sucker for a silly title, so enjoy.
I've have the feeling that this song is part of the soundtrack for Vice Stoppers, probably from a pretty badass scene with helicopters and serious-looking men with stubble and no scruples, whom Joe Hackmanface would proceed to kick apart. And, of course, an Anne-Marie Martin or Markie Post (during sweeps) in some sort of ill-defined but perilous danger. Maybe sitting near the edge of something, because the budget didn't include quite enough to get her to actually depend from a ledge, per se, but Stubble Unscrupulous could waggle his gun and sneer, maybe.
I am unrepentantly proud of the solo that starts at about 2:06. It has flaws, I guess, but I like it a little better every time I hear it. That, and, of course, the Rhodes organ throughout. Man. It almost doesn't matter what keys you hit on that thing, as long as you hit about ten of 'em at once.

Nate doing the amazing thing Nate does. That feels like a cop-out. Let me try this: If you like Manatee Tights, maybe this isn't for you. If you hate meat, maybe this will change your mind. Sklib
