about

Sometimes, there's one waiting at the stand on the corner, and sometimes you have to wait there in the rain, not making eye contact with her, trying to flag one down. The little buzzing bastards come rolling up the hills and across the streets in the downpour that has become your whole world, and you stand there getting drenched, hand upraised like some kind of proselytizing monk from the monastery the other monks talk about behind your back. And there she is, just making eye contact with you like there was something to say, but there never is. There is only you, and the bus stop and the world coming down in an ocean of self-loathing over top of you as you flag down another mosquito, hoping this time, maybe, it'll drain enough blood that you can lose consciousness and in the stupor maybe forget for a minute all the fat, curvy mistakes you keep making.
