Three Gallon Queso

about

This was once the title track. I left it on here because, why not? It won't hurt to remember the past, only to harm the future for the sake of it. The past happened. The future will happen. Sometimes, you name the kid "Queso" before you think about why you're doing that.

I'm pretty sure cheese is an avoidance mechanism for most of us.

I didn't want to deal with some things. I have had to. Now, I must continue to do so. These things, they cannot hurt me. Only lies can hurt me.

This is the "whole thing" I wrote. It still exists, and it is very much a work of self-pity. We all gotta dig our own hole.

"Well, that's it.

That's it for the three gallons of queso (long since coagulated and cast aside). That may be it for Sklib (in much the same state, to the benefit of all concerned). Time for new things. Time to write a brand new song. Time to call this game on technical fouls and just declare attrition the winner-by-default. I have beautiful, terrible plans, upon which I intend to act, if reality gives me the chance.

It doesn't matter, though, if I do. I wrote some songs. Personally, I'm fond of at least half of them. That's a lie. I love them all, but I am aware that a reasonable person should be fond of half.

Look: maybe overcomplicated navelgazing isn't your speed. Maybe it is. It seems to have been mine. It's time to move along and do something else. Sklib isn't a phoenix. Sklib is a skin disease. It never goes away forever, and it leaves one vulnerable to rickets in dotage.

It's been fun. The cruel things I've said, I've said out of love. The kind things I've said have been lies. I hope you enjoy this last song. I hope it sits well with you and reminds you that things don't always end with bangs or whimpers, but with a strummed guitar chord that isn't actually the one you wanted but will do the job."
